1 year has passed and still messy.
2015 was a very busy year.
I hope next year I have the time to continue with this project
"The Black Nouvo Project" in Area 51, maybe.
I just want to restore this scooter, be like new again. Shiny.

A Nouvo Story In Bermuda Island with Jenny Mayo

One of my new found freedoms of life in Bermuda has been the release from the boredom, stress, frustration, and wasted time of car traffic.  I used to love driving -- growing up in Saskatchewan driving was initially the new freedom which allowed one to expand not just horizons, but hobbies and friendships.  Once in Edmonton, driving afforded convenience and flexibility...but more and more it meant time stuck in traffic, knuckle-whitening death grips on the wheel on icy roads in the winter and knucklehead drivers to avoid in the summer....makes me tense up just thinking about it.    Driving remained a tool to keep expanding those horizons, hobbies, and friendships, but during the winter months it could add 2 hours to the work day, plus the initial trek out to the car in darkness and temperatures of -20C to -30C to start the car, scrape the windshield, and remove the snowfall coating the entire car.  In retrospect...what a horrible way to start a day.  But a fact of life...in Canada.

A Yamaha Nouvo Story With Kevin Miller, Jr.- SaigonNezumi

My two year old 115cc Yamaha Nouvo parked in my house. The Yamaha Nouvo is quite popular in Vietnam.

About every six months here in Saigon, I get a new seat cover for my Yamaha Nouvo motorbike. This is actually my third replacement since I bought my motorbike back in August, 2004. This shop did not have any spare seat covers for my motorbike so they decided to make me a new one from scratch. It took them 45 minutes and cost only 60,000 VND ($4 US).

That leaves transportation. Taxis (teksi) are quite cheap, but sometimes it's hard to find a local number to call to have one come and get me. That happened at Makro, but finally a newsstand operator was able to give me a phone number. After I called, the taxi came in about five minutes. Bus service is unreliable (at least that's what everyone tells me), and all the members of the faculty have cars, which they use even to get from one part of campus to another. I've been shopping for a motorbike and thought I had one ordered at the closest shop, but it turned out they couldn't get it for another week or more.

A lot of people will buy old motorbikes like Hondas and Russian Minsks. These are okay, but you don’t have to go this route.

Getting a motorbike in Vietnam Mopeds (motor-scooters) are also fine. I rode around Vietnam on a 125cc 2004 Yamaha Nouvo (pictured above) that I paid $151 (£100) for. That’s a good deal cheaper than the average of $3-400 that most people want for those old Honda Wins and Minsks.
